Welcome to Tewkesbury Liberal Democrats
Tewkesbury constituency covers most of Tewkesbury Borough (except the area west of the Severn) and parts of Cheltenham Borough and Gloucester City.
County Council Election results 2009
|
Essentially the main centres are Tewkesbury town, Ashchurch and Northway, Bishops Cleeve, Winchcombe, Churchdown, Brockworth, Prestbury and Swindon Village and Longlevens.
Since the last General Election we have enjoyed considerable electoral success within the Constituency. There are now 18 Liberal Democrat Councillors at Borough level (16 on Tewkesbury Borough and 2 on Cheltenham Borough), against the Tories 20. We also have 3 County councillors: 1 in Bishop's Cleeve, 1 in Brockworth and Hucclecote and 1 in Churchdown
There are no Labour councillors at District or County level within the Constituency.

Alistair Cameron supports coalition agreement

Alistair Cameron, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Tewkesbury supports the coaltion agreement between the Liberal Democrats and the Conservatives which was overwhelmingly backed at the party's Federal Conference yesterday at the NEC, Birmingham.

Alistair Cameron would like to thank everyone who voted Liberal Democrat at the General Election. Alistair said: "We were delighted to have increased our vote up to 19,162 and to have gained a swing from the Conservatives to the Liberal Democrats of over 4%. This means that the Conservatives now have a majority of only 6,310 in Tewkesbury Constituency: it is not the safe Tory seat it once was.

Lib Dem calls for Toxic Waste site to be closed

Alistair Cameron, the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Tewkesbury, was speaking at a candidates' debate at Cleeve School. He told the packed hall: ' Wingmoor Farm needs to close. It should not be allowed to continue. The Liberal Democrats are trying to bring in green policies to protect the environment. People should not have to put up with a dump on their doorstep.'
